We haven't yet met a child who hasn't loved to sit in the bush and whittle. It is a highly therapeutic activity that promotes intense mindfullness.

Clare Warden, the guru of nature play for children suggests "whittling allows children freedom, flexibility, and a chance for a lot of personal space to connect with their sense of self and their natural environment".

When whittling is introduced to children on our school holiday programmes we see a huge level of engagement, the children feel empowered, self confident, and there is a wonderful calm atmosphere. Whittling calms the body and focuses the mind and creates a connection to the natural world.
