New Out&About Programmes - Spring 2026

Free Community Play in Auckland_edited.j
We’re excited to be part of the 2026-27 Out&About Programme, thanks to the generosity of local boards and Auckland Council — bringing free, playful experiences to communities across Auckland!
From October through March, we’ll be popping up in local parks and community spaces with a series of creative, cultural and hands-on play experiences for tamariki, whānau and communities.
Our November programme is just the beginning — with more activations planned for December, January, February and March. Keep checking back as new dates and locations are announced!

🎈 What’s on?

Our programmes invite children, families and communities to play, create, move, make and connect. Each activation offers something a little different:

Taonga Tākaro — Māori Traditional Games
Discover Māori traditional games through movement, storytelling and playful challenges, led by experienced Māori facilitators. A joyful way to connect with te ao Māori and mātauranga Māori.

Junk Play — Create. Reuse. Play.
What can you make from everyday and recycled materials? Junk Play encourages tamariki and whānau to imagine, build, experiment and collaborate — with no right or wrong way to play!

The Great Marble Run — Build. Connect. Create.
Work together to design and build one giant marble run using reclaimed materials and loose parts. Everyone can contribute an idea, test something new and help the creation grow throughout the day.

Weave, Move & Make — Create. Move. Connect.
Inspired by te taiao and local stories, explore natural materials, simple harakeke weaving, waiata and movement while creating collaborative artworks together.

Play Passport — Travel the World Through Play
Discover games, stories and traditions from cultures around the globe. Collect stamps in your Play Passport as you play, explore and celebrate Auckland’s incredible cultural diversity.
